The Work Carried Out

All failing and loose mortar joints were carefully ground out across the chimney stack. This step is essential to ensure the new mortar bonds properly and isn’t applied over weak material.
2. Cleaning & Preparation
Once the joints were opened up, the brickwork was cleaned and prepped to remove debris and dust. This helps the new cement adhere correctly and prevents future failure.
3. Repointing the Chimney
We repointed the entire chimney using a fresh mortar mix, filling all joints fully and finishing them neatly to match the existing brickwork. Repointing replaces deteriorated mortar and strengthens the overall structure while improving weather resistance .
4. Chimney Cap (Flaunching) Repair
The chimney cap was also restored by re-cementing and reshaping the top to ensure proper water runoff. The cap plays a key role in protecting the stack from rain penetration, so getting this right is crucial.
The Result
