Double Tarmac Driveway Resurfacing | Canterbury, Kent
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Project: 120m² Double Driveway Tarmac Resurfacing
Duration: 4 days
This project in Canterbury involved resurfacing a large shared driveway used by two neighbouring properties. The existing surface had badly deteriorated over time, with cracks, loose sections, and uneven areas making it both unsightly and impractical for regular use.
The aim was to completely refresh the driveway, improve durability, and leave both properties with a clean, smooth and long-lasting finish.

The Work Carried Out
We began by breaking out and removing all loose and damaged sections of the existing surface. The driveway had multiple failing areas, so it was important to properly prepare the base before applying any new material.
Once cleared, we carried out the necessary groundwork to ensure a solid and even foundation. This included levelling the surface and making sure everything was properly compacted to avoid future movement.
Special attention was given to key features such as drainage points and manhole covers. These were carefully adjusted and levelled to sit flush with the new surface, ensuring both functionality and a clean finish.
With the preparation complete, we installed a new tarmac surface across the full 120m² area. The tarmac was laid evenly and compacted thoroughly to create a smooth, hard-wearing finish suitable for daily vehicle use.

The Result
The finished driveway now provides a completely refreshed and uniform surface for both properties. The new tarmac not only improves the overall look of the space but also makes it far more practical, with a smooth finish and proper levels throughout.
By addressing the base and drainage properly before resurfacing, the new driveway is built to last and will stand up well to regular use.

Why Resurfacing Was the Right Choice
In cases like this, where the surface is heavily worn but the base can be corrected, resurfacing is a cost-effective way to completely transform a driveway without starting entirely from scratch.
It allows for:
- A clean, modern finish
- Improved durability
- Better drainage and levels
- Long-term reliability
