This project in South London involved repairing and repainting a damaged interior ceiling that had visible cracks and staining from previous water ingress.
The ceiling had multiple problem areas, including hairline cracks and brown water stains that had started to bleed through the existing paint. The aim was to properly treat the surface, stop the stains from coming back, and leave a smooth, clean finish.
The Work Carried Out
We carried out a full ceiling repair and repainting process to ensure a long-lasting result.
1. Crack Filling & Surface Preparation
All visible cracks were carefully opened up, filled, and smoothed out to create an even surface. This helps prevent cracks from reappearing through the new paint.
2. Sanding & Preparation
Once the filler had cured, the ceiling was sanded back and prepared to achieve a smooth and consistent finish.
3. Stain Blocker Application
A stain blocking primer was applied to all affected areas. This is essential when dealing with water stains, as it stops them bleeding back through the new paint.
4. Primer Coat
A full primer coat was applied across the ceiling to seal the surface and provide a solid base for the topcoat.
5. Final Paint Finish
The ceiling was then finished with a fresh topcoat, leaving a clean, bright and uniform appearance throughout the room.
The Result
The finished ceiling is now smooth, clean, and free from visible stains or cracks. Thanks to the proper preparation and stain blocking, the marks won’t return, giving the client a long-lasting result rather than a quick fix.
