This project in Margate involved transforming an existing front garden area into a clean, durable tarmac driveway, complete with a new dropped kerb and decorative block paved edging.
The original surface was uneven and not suitable for regular vehicle use, so the aim was to create a practical parking space while improving the overall appearance of the property.
The existing area was tired and uneven, with old surfaces and poor usability. The aim was to create a practical driveway space while also improving the overall look of the property with structured landscaping and clean finishes.
The Work Carried Out
We carried out a full excavation and rebuild to ensure a strong and long-lasting finish.
1. Excavation & Ground Preparation
The existing surface was broken out and removed, with the area excavated to the correct depth. All waste materials were cleared from site, leaving a clean base to work from.
2. Sub-Base Installation
A new sub-base was installed and compacted thoroughly to provide a solid foundation. This step is key to preventing future sinking or movement.
3. Dropped Kerb Installation
We installed a new dropped kerb at the front of the property, allowing safe and easy vehicle access from the road onto the driveway.
4. Bracken Tobermore Block Paved Border
A decorative border was installed using Bracken Tobermore paving blocks. This creates a strong edge to retain the tarmac while also adding a smart visual contrast.
5. Tarmac Surface Application
The driveway was finished with a new tarmac surface, laid evenly and compacted to create a smooth, durable finish suitable for everyday use.
