Following the successful completion of two previous roofing projects on the same road, Towergate Builders & Developers were delighted to be invited back by another homeowner in Maidstone to carry out a complete roof replacement. Having seen the quality of workmanship delivered on neighbouring properties, the customer chose our team to transform their ageing roof with a durable and attractive new slate roofing system.
The existing roof had reached the end of its serviceable life, with deteriorating coverings, ageing battens and weathered roofing components. To ensure long-term protection and performance, a full strip and replacement was recommended.

The Installation Process
Our team erected full access scaffolding before carefully removing the existing roof coverings and stripping the roof back to its structural timbers. Once exposed, the roof structure was thoroughly inspected to ensure it was suitable for the new installation.
The project included:
- Complete removal of the existing roof coverings
- Installation of a high-performance breathable roofing membrane
- Replacement of roofing battens throughout
- New treated timber where required
- Installation of premium slate roof tiles
- New dry ridge system installation
- Leadwork detailing around the chimney and roof junctions
- Finishing and weatherproofing all roof edges and abutments
Throughout the installation, great care was taken to maintain a clean and safe working environment while minimising disruption to neighbouring properties.
