Project Overview
This front pathway in Ramsgate was definitely ready for a facelift. The old concrete path had seen better days – cracked, tired, and not exactly the most welcoming entrance to the house. So, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work giving it the upgrade it deserved.
Before
The front garden was a mix of patchy grass, old paving, and uneven concrete. Parking was limited, and the whole space looked a bit tired and in need of a proper upgrade.
After
Now it’s a sleek, modern block paved driveway with a smart grey herringbone design and a crisp contrasting border. It’s practical, durable, and adds instant kerb appeal – with plenty of space for parking too.
Step 1 – Clearing the way
We started by ripping out the old driveway and digging out the area properly. Out came the broken concrete, tired grass patches, and any old block paving that had seen better days. Once everything was cleared, we had a clean slate to work with.
Step 2 – Groundwork prep
Good groundwork is the key to a strong driveway. We laid down a solid sub-base, compacted it properly, and added a membrane layer to keep weeds at bay. With the foundations sorted, we were ready for the fun bit – laying the new blocks.
Step 3 – Laying the blocks
For this project, the customer went for a modern grey block paving with a stylish contrasting border. The herringbone pattern in the centre keeps things neat and strong, while the lighter edging frames the whole driveway perfectly. It’s a simple design, but it really makes the front of the house look smart.
Step 4 – Finishing touches
Once the blocks were laid, we brushed kiln-dried sand into the joints and gave everything a good compact. With a final sweep and tidy-up, the driveway was ready for action – smooth, durable, and looking spot on.
Final Result
The transformation couldn’t be clearer: from an uneven, patchy front garden to a wide, practical driveway with plenty of parking space. It not only looks sharper but also adds real value to the property.
