Project Overview
We recently completed a full front garden transformation into a durable, low maintenance block paved driveway at a residential property in Canterbury. The goal was to replace the tired, uneven lawn and old concrete paving with a stylish and functional off-road parking solution that enhanced the property’s kerb appeal.
Before: The existing front garden space was overgrown and underused, with old paving slabs and poor drainage causing practical and aesthetic issues. The client wanted to replace it with a clean, modern, and low maintenance driveway solution.
After: The final result is a neat and visually striking driveway that significantly enhances the kerb appeal of the property. With improved drainage, solid construction, and a carefully chosen colour scheme, the new surface is both practical and attractive. The client was very pleased with the transformation and our attention to detail throughout the build.
Construction Process
- Groundworks & Drainage
- We began by clearing and excavating the area to the required depth. As part of the essential groundwork, we installed a brand-new Acro drainage system, a new gully, and a recessed (inset) manhole cover, ensuring efficient water runoff and full compliance with modern drainage standards.
- Edging & Sub-Base
- A strong sub-base was laid and compacted using MOT Type 1 aggregate. Edging restraints were set in place to retain the integrity of the block paving. Drainage points and manhole access were fully integrated into the layout for a seamless look and function.
- Block Paving Installation
- The driveway was finished in a classic 90-degree herringbone pattern, using Brindle block paving as the main field colour. A bold charcoal border and an outer buuf edge trim were added to create contrast and define the perimeter beautifully.
