Project Overview
We recently completed this full driveway transformation in Canterbury using high-quality Tobermore block paving in a natural grey finish, complemented with a stylish slate grey border.
The existing gravel driveway was completely removed and excavated to create a strong, long-lasting foundation suitable for daily vehicle use while also improving the overall appearance and functionality of the property.
Before
The property originally had an uneven gravel driveway with patches of grass and worn areas throughout, making the space look tired and difficult to maintain. Drainage was limited, the surface lacked stability, and the overall appearance did not complement the property.
After
The completed transformation features a fully reinforced Tobermore block paved driveway in natural grey with a contrasting slate grey border, creating a clean, modern and highly durable finish. The new driveway now offers a smooth and practical surface with improved drainage thanks to the installed ACO channels, while the fresh edging and professionally prepared foundations ensure long-term performance and a far more attractive entrance to the home.
Step 1 – Full Excavation & Ground Preparation
The old driveway was fully dug out to a depth of approximately 12 inches to allow for the correct build-up and ensure a stable base for the new installation.
Step 2 – Reinforced Foundation Installation
A reinforced sub-base was installed and compacted thoroughly to provide maximum durability and prevent future movement or sinking.
Step 3 – Three Layers of Membrane
To improve stability and reduce weed growth, three separate layers of membrane were installed throughout the driveway construction.
Step 4 – Drainage System Installation
We fitted 12 resin metal ACO drainage channels across the driveway, all connected into the main drainage system for the property to ensure effective water management and surface runoff control.
Step 3 – Edging & Kerb Installation
Edging kerbs were installed around the front and right-hand side of the driveway to provide strength, definition and a clean finished appearance.
Step 4 – Tobermore Block Paving Installation
The driveway was laid using premium Tobermore paving in a natural grey colour with contrasting slate grey borders, creating a modern and high-end finish.
