Project Overview
Towergate Builders and Developers were tasked with transforming an overgrown and uneven gravel front garden into a sleek, practical, and well-drained block paved driveway. The original layout offered limited usable parking space and poor kerb appeal, so the plan focused on maximising the area, improving drainage, and creating a sharp, modern finish that complemented the property.
Before: The original front garden consisted of patchy gravel, overgrown plants, and no clear parking layout. The uneven surface made access awkward and offered limited space for vehicles. With poor drainage and minimal structure, the area lacked both functionality and visual appeal.
After: Now fully transformed, the new block paved driveway provides a clean, practical solution with plenty of off-road parking. The light grey blocks, laid in a 45-degree herringbone pattern with charcoal edging, create a striking, modern finish. Improved drainage, neat boundaries, and a smart new entrance step complete the look, delivering a professional, long-lasting result that adds real value to the property.
Construction Process
- Site Preparation & Groundwork
- We began by removing all vegetation, gravel, and debris from the front area. We then excavated the ground to the required depth and installed a solid Type 1 MOT base, followed by a compacted layer of coarse crushed stone to ensure proper ground support.
- Drainage & Edge Work
- A full length ACO channel drain was fitted along the front entrance and key perimeter areas to control surface water and comply with SUDS regulations. We installed charcoal block edging to define the boundary and then laid sharp sand and screeded it to the correct levels.
- Block Paving & Finishing Touches
- We used a premium light grey block laid in a 45-degree herringbone pattern for a neat, interlocking design. The new step to the entrance was rebuilt using matching blocks, and decorative shrubs were added for a soft finishing touch.
