Project Overview
Towergate Builders & Developers recently completed this impressive driveway and patio transformation in Canterbury, Kent. The project involved creating a large block paved driveway area to the front of the property, along with a modern porcelain paved patio and steps leading from the house.
The finished result provides the homeowners with a practical, durable and attractive outdoor space that improves access, enhances kerb appeal and creates a clean, modern finish around the property.
Before:
The existing outdoor space had a sloped and uneven layout, with tired concrete sections, worn pathways and areas that were not making the best use of the available space. The front of the property needed a more practical driveway surface, while the patio area required a cleaner and more modern finish.
After:
The area has been completely transformed with a new block paved driveway laid in a neat herringbone pattern, finished with contrasting borders for definition. To the upper patio area, large-format porcelain slabs have been installed to create a stylish seating space, with new steps providing safe and practical access from the house to the driveway.
The Installation Process
The project began with the preparation of the existing driveway and patio areas, including excavation, clearance and levelling works. Due to the sloped layout of the property, careful attention was given to levels, drainage and the transition between the different areas.

- Installation of block paving in a herringbone pattern

- Kiln-dried sand brushing and final compaction
- Final clean down of the completed surfaces
The block paving was laid to create a strong and long-lasting driveway surface, with the darker border adding definition and helping to frame the space. The porcelain patio was installed to provide a smooth, modern and low-maintenance finish directly outside the property.
