We recently carried out an emergency driveway repair in Dunkirk Village, Kent, restoring a large block paved driveway that had suffered significant movement and failure across the surface.
Rather than unnecessarily replacing the entire driveway, the existing paving blocks were carefully lifted from the affected areas so they could be reused as part of the repair. This allowed us to retain the original appearance of the driveway while addressing the problems underneath.
Before:
The driveway had deteriorated considerably in several areas, with large sections of block paving becoming uneven, displaced and broken apart. Blocks had moved away from their original positions, leaving exposed bedding material and creating an uneven surface across what is a substantial driveway.
After:
Following the repair, the original block paving has been relaid across the affected areas, restoring a consistent and level finish.
Reusing the existing blocks helped maintain the established character of the property while providing a cost-effective alternative to completely replacing such a large driveway. Once completed, the surface was finished and cleaned down, leaving the driveway looking considerably smarter and ready for regular vehicle use again.
Once the blocks had been removed, the underlying area was cleared and the bedding layer was re-prepared, levelled and graded to create a suitable surface for relaying the paving. The original blocks were then reinstated, carefully following the existing pattern and levels.
The finished driveway is once again level, tidy and fully usable, with the repaired sections blending naturally into the surrounding paving.
