Towergate Builders & Developers recently completed this Indian sandstone patio installation in Folkestone, Kent, creating a smart and contemporary seating area using beautiful Kandla Grey Indian sandstone finished with an elegant charcoal block paved border.
The customer wanted to make better use of an unused corner of the garden by adding a durable patio that complemented the existing artificial lawn, raised pond and landscaped features.
Before:
The corner of the garden consisted of an unused gravel area with little practical purpose. It lacked definition and didn’t provide a suitable space for outdoor seating or entertaining.
After:
The area has been transformed into a stunning Kandla Grey Indian sandstone patio with a stylish charcoal border. The new patio creates a modern, low-maintenance seating area that perfectly complements the artificial lawn and surrounding garden features.
Preparing the Ground
The project began by marking out the new patio area before excavating the ground to the required depth. A solid MOT Type 1 sub-base was installed, compacted thoroughly and levelled to create a stable foundation.
Charcoal block paving was then laid around the perimeter to create a crisp border that frames the sandstone perfectly while helping retain the paving over time.
Installing the Indian Sandstone
Premium Kandla Grey Indian sandstone was carefully laid in a mixed-size pattern to give the patio a natural, timeless appearance. Every slab was individually positioned and levelled to achieve consistent joint spacing and excellent drainage away from the property.
The contrasting charcoal edging gives the patio a modern finish while defining the outdoor seating area and tying in beautifully with the surrounding landscaping.
The Finished Result
The completed patio provides the homeowners with a practical and attractive outdoor space that’s ideal for relaxing and entertaining. The light tones of the Kandla Grey sandstone brighten the garden, while the charcoal border creates a striking contrast that enhances the overall design.
This installation has transformed an underused section of the garden into an elegant feature that will provide years of enjoyment with minimal maintenance.
