Porcelain Patio & Sleepers | Maidstone
- Location: Maidstone, Kent
- Project: Porcelain Patio & Railway Sleepers
- Duration: 4 days
Towergate Builders & Developers recently completed this substantial 60m² porcelain patio and garden transformation in Maidstone, Kent, completely redesigning the outside space to create a clean, modern and practical garden.
The existing garden required extensive preparation before the new landscaping could begin. The old surfaces, timber decking, unwanted materials and vegetation were removed, with the ground excavated and cleared to provide the correct levels for the new patio and garden areas.

Before
Before work began, the rear garden was dated, uneven and made up of several different surfaces. The existing timber decking had become tired, while the lawn, old pathways, vegetation and remaining materials left the garden feeling disjointed and difficult to make full use of. Significant clearance and excavation were required to create suitable levels for the new landscaping.
After
The garden has been completely transformed with approximately 60m² of Kandla Grey porcelain paving, creating a bright, modern and highly practical outdoor space around the rear and side of the property. Dark Tobermore paved edging provides a striking contrast around the porcelain, while integrated drainage channels give the installation a clean and functional finish.
New railway sleeper borders have also been installed along the boundary, with fresh topsoil added and levelled across the remaining garden area. The result is a much more open, structured and low-maintenance garden, with a substantial new patio ready for outdoor furniture, entertaining and everyday family use.

The existing garden had a mixture of old timber decking, lawn, pathways, vegetation and uneven ground. Before we could begin installing the new patio, the area required extensive clearance and ground preparation.
The old decking and unwanted materials were removed, vegetation was cleared and sections of the garden were excavated to establish the correct levels. A mini digger was used during the groundwork to efficiently clear and prepare the large area.
Once cleared, the ground was properly prepared and compacted to provide a strong and stable foundation for the new paving.
Kandla Grey Porcelain Paving
We installed approximately 60m² of Kandla Grey porcelain paving, extending the new patio around the rear and side of the property.
The light grey porcelain creates a clean and contemporary appearance while providing the homeowners with a substantial new outdoor space for seating, entertaining and enjoying the garden.
The paving was carefully laid with consistent joints and accurate levels, creating a crisp finish that complements the brick exterior of the property.
Tobermore Paved Edging
To provide contrast and clearly define the new patio, we installed a dark Tobermore paved edge around the Kandla Grey porcelain.
The charcoal-coloured border creates an attractive frame around the lighter paving and provides a particularly effective transition between the patio and the remaining garden.
We also incorporated linear drainage channels within the new paved areas to help manage surface water and ensure effective drainage away from the property.
Railway Sleepers & Fresh Topsoil
As part of the wider garden transformation, treated railway sleepers were installed along the boundary to create a neat raised planting area.
Fresh topsoil was then introduced and levelled across the remaining garden, leaving the customer with a prepared area ready for turf, planting or further landscaping.
The Finished Result
The completed project has dramatically changed the appearance and usability of this Maidstone garden.
The combination of 60m² of Kandla Grey porcelain, dark Tobermore paved edging, integrated drainage, railway sleepers and freshly prepared topsoil has created a much cleaner and more structured outdoor space.
The large porcelain patio now provides a practical, attractive and low-maintenance area that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
