PVC Fascia, Soffit & Guttering Replacement with Asbestos Removal | Canterbury, Kent
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Project: Full Fascia & Soffit Replacement + Asbestos Removal
Duration: 2–3 days
Project Overview
This property in Canterbury had severely weathered timber fascias, cracked soffits, and an old guttering system that had long passed its best. Once we inspected the roofline, it became clear that the existing soffit boards contained asbestos, meaning the job required safe removal before any new PVC installations could begin.
The homeowners wanted a clean, low-maintenance roofline upgrade that would protect the property for years, so we carried out a full strip-out and installed brand-new high-quality white PVC fascias, soffits, guttering, and downpipes.
Before
The original roofline showed clear signs of age and deterioration:
- Rotten and exposed timber
- Cracked and fragmented soffits
- Failing paintwork
- Broken and misaligned guttering
- Asbestos-containing materials in old soffits
- Evidence of water run-off and poor drainage
The combination of worn woodwork and hazardous material meant a complete replacement was essential, not just cosmetic.
Step 1 – Safe Asbestos Removal
Safety comes first. We began by carefully removing all asbestos-containing soffit boards in accordance with regulations. The materials were sealed, collected, and disposed of at a licensed waste facility.
Once cleared, we checked the timber structure underneath and identified areas that needed repair or replacement before the new PVC system could be fitted.
Step 2 – Timber Repairs & Prep Work
With the asbestos safely removed, we exposed the rafters and framework. Some sections were damaged from leaks and long-term weathering, so we:
- Replaced weakened timber
- Treated exposed wood
- Removed debris and old nails
- Prepared the roofline for secure fixing of the new boards
This ensured a solid, long-lasting base for the PVC installation.
Step 3 – Installing New PVC Fascias & Soffits
We installed durable white PVC fascia and soffit boards, creating a crisp, clean finish that instantly modernised the property. PVC offers excellent long-term benefits:
- No painting required
- Weather-resistant
- Won’t rot or warp
- A clean, modern appearance
The boards were fixed neatly with proper ventilation and drip edges to protect the roofing structure.
Step 4 – New Guttering & Downpipes
Next, we fitted a full black PVC guttering system with matching downpipes to replace the old, leaking setup. The new system provides:
- Improved drainage
- Reduced risk of damp
- A smart contrast against the white boards
- Long-lasting performance in all weather
Everything was aligned and tested to ensure proper water flow.
Final Result
The transformation is clear. What was once a worn, unsafe, and tired-looking roofline is now clean, modern, weatherproof and fully safe from asbestos.
The new PVC fascias, soffits, and guttering instantly improved the home’s appearance and structural reliability. Another happy customer in Canterbury!
