We recently completed this Raj Green Indian sandstone patio project in Dunkirk Village, Kent, transforming the garden with new natural stone paving and creating a much cleaner, more practical outdoor space.
The work included replacing the existing lawn and older paved areas with Raj Green Indian sandstone, extending the paving across the garden and along the side access of the property. The finished layout provides a generous patio area while improving access between the front and rear of the house.
Before:
The garden previously consisted of a lawn surrounded by a mixture of older paving, concrete and narrow pathways. Although the space was usable, the different surfaces gave the garden a slightly disjointed appearance and required ongoing maintenance.
After:
The garden has been transformed with new Raj Green Indian sandstone paving, creating a smart and much more cohesive finish.
A large patio now covers the main garden area, providing a practical low-maintenance surface for seating, entertaining and everyday use. The sandstone was laid in a mixed-size pattern, with the natural variation in the stone introducing attractive shades of brown, buff, grey and subtle green.
The paving was also continued around the side of the property, replacing the existing concrete pathway and creating a much smarter route between the front and rear gardens. This gives the entire installation a consistent appearance rather than limiting the new paving to the main patio.
Existing changes in garden level were incorporated into the design with neatly paved steps and retained brick edging. A recessed access cover was also installed within the sandstone paving so that essential services remain accessible without interrupting the appearance of the finished patio.
The completed patio provides a durable and attractive outdoor surface that suits the traditional character of the property while making the garden considerably easier to maintain.
