We recently completed this 32m² Raj Green Indian sandstone patio installation in Margate, Kent, replacing an ageing raised timber decking area with a much more attractive and durable natural stone patio.
The existing timber decking, balustrades and steps were removed, exposing the old concrete base beneath. The area was then prepared for the new patio, with the finished levels carefully designed to provide a spacious paved area immediately outside the rear of the property.
Before:
The rear of the property featured an older raised timber decking area with wooden balustrades and steps. The decking had become weathered over time and dominated this section of the garden.
After:
The decking has been completely replaced with a 32m² Raj Green Indian sandstone patio, creating a considerably smarter and more substantial outdoor space.
The combination of natural sandstone and Ivanhoe Cream brickwork works particularly well with the property’s existing brick exterior. The new paved steps and raised patio edge give the installation a properly finished appearance while maintaining easy access to the different garden levels.
To create a strong and attractive raised edge, we installed new Ivanhoe Cream bricks around the patio. Their traditional appearance complements the existing brickwork of the house while providing a neat transition between the raised patio and the lower garden.
The new Raj Green Indian sandstone was laid in a mixed-size pattern, introducing warm shades of brown, buff, grey and subtle green. New paved steps were also incorporated to provide convenient access between the house, patio and surrounding garden.
