Resin Patio Transformation | New Romney

  • Location: New Romney
  • Project: Resin Bound Patio & Raised Sleeper Beds
  • Duration: 3 days

Our team recently completed this full rear garden transformation in New Romney, replacing a collection of tired paving slabs and uneven pathways with a bright, low-maintenance resin bound patio.

The existing garden had several different paved areas, overgrown joints and narrow paths that made the space feel disjointed. The homeowner wanted a cleaner and more practical layout while retaining a central garden area and creating new raised beds for planting.

Before

  • Old, weathered paving with weeds growing through the joints.
  • Uneven and disconnected paths around the garden.
  • Narrow access beside the house, shed and greenhouse.
  • Poorly defined lawn and planting areas.
  • Garden borders requiring clearance and improvement.
  • An outdated layout that was difficult to maintain.

After

  • Bright resin bound patio and pathways throughout the garden.
  • Brindle block-paved border creating a neat, contrasting edge.
  • New railway sleeper raised planting bed along the boundary.
  • Sleepers treated with Black Jack protective coating.
  • Freshly planted border adding colour and structure.
  • Clearly defined central lawn and garden area.
  • Smooth, practical access around the house, shed and greenhouse.
  • A modern, attractive and low-maintenance outdoor space.

The Project

We began by removing the existing paving, overgrown borders and unsuitable surface materials. The garden was excavated to the required levels before a new compacted sub-base was installed across the patio and pathway areas.

The layout was carefully planned to create wide, continuous access around the central garden. Brindle block paving was then installed around the perimeter of the lawn and planting areas, providing a strong edge restraint and an attractive contrast against the lighter resin finish.

Along the boundary fence, we constructed a substantial raised flower bed using pressure-treated railway sleepers. The timber was coated with Black Jack to provide additional protection against moisture and ground contact, helping to extend its lifespan.

Once the groundwork and edging were complete, the patio and pathways were finished with a light-coloured resin bound aggregate. The resin was hand-trowelled to produce a smooth and consistent surface around the property, greenhouse and garden.

The raised bed was then filled with fresh soil and planted with a varied selection of shrubs and flowering plants, creating an attractive feature along the full length of the garden.

The Finished Result

The completed resin patio has transformed this New Romney garden into a bright, practical and welcoming outdoor space. The light resin surface makes the garden feel larger, while the Brindle paved border adds warmth and clearly defines the central garden area.

The new railway sleeper bed provides additional height, structure and planting space without reducing the usable patio area. Together, the resin pathways, sleeper landscaping and new planting have created a balanced garden that is attractive, accessible and easy to maintain.
